Spent here 3 good days and would return there. It was a relaxing base for holidays. The location was magnificent, short walk to the Taradale town centre, Napier for a competition, and a great Thai restaurant.

This hotel has a fantastic location right near a great Thai restaurant, as well as shops and eateries in Taradale. Plus, it's just a short distance from the oldest wineries. 🍷.

Location near Napier, perhaps more accurately, a “ region ” of Napier as well as major transport hubs. Brand-new and good-sized rooms with private bathrooms and a fridge, an oven, and kitchenware. Spa for guests, overall excellent service.

I had a wonderful stay for one night. the location was fantastic, being close to Church Road vineyard and conveniently near a mall and a supermarket. Plus, it was only 6 km away from a historic water pump, making it easy to explore the area.

The grounds were well maintained.
Basically an old style motel which has been retrofitted to a degree but insufficiently to justify the tarriff now being charged.In the one bedroom unit for example * there was no heating in the bathroom which was tiled and cold but was not adequately warmd by the heat exchanger.The bathroom did not have a heated towel rail.Adequate bathroom heating is a basic requirement and an essential for the tarriff being charged;*the lounge seating was inadequate. A lower tarriff would be appropriate and realistic for the motel as it is currently configured. The response to the following question is based on this comment.

The manager at the front desk was charming, helpful and welcoming. The room was modern, functional and the outside facilities were excellent including lovely grounds.

We had a great stay at the Colonial Lodge Motel. We received a warm reception and were delighted with the room and its amenities. We made good use of the full kitchen. The bed was comfortable and the neighbourhood was quiet. Highly recommended.

The staff were incredibly friendly. the location was excellent, with St Marys Catholic Church just a short stroll away. - the area served as a good base for me.

hotel staff, close to supermarket, 10min to drive to Napier, clean.
small room, noisy, electric blanket and TV didn't work.
